Dashboard
To respond to the new objectives of the 8th Environmental Action Programme and the European Green Deal, ISPRA has developed a series of dashboards based on an initial set of environmental indicators. Through the exploration of interactive charts, users can intuitively understand already published statistics.
By selecting indicators by thematic area, users can view time series, generate maps showing the spatial distribution of specific variables, obtain rankings, and carry out comparative analyses.
A non-uniform approach was adopted for the indicators: in some cases, spatial representations were provided for the most recent year of data, in others temporal trends were shown, and in some cases, both representations were combined.
The usefulness of the interactive charts lies in the following features:
The ability for users to filter displayed values by category, time period, or country;
The option to display alternative values or different categories/series separately, as showing them simultaneously would make the chart less readable;
The ability to view the specific value by hovering the mouse over individual elements of the maps and charts.
In some cases, applying the same filter to multiple charts supports analysis by allowing users to combine information from different visualizations.
